Lesson about family crisis and how to cope with it!!

Jacob sets an example in the Quran, about how to cope with crisis in the family. There are various crises which could happen within a family. This particular example is about deceit and treachery within Jacob’s family.

Jacob’s story goes like this briefly; Jacob had twelve sons, two of them Joseph and Benjamin, were Jacob’s sons from another wife. This story entails about Joseph and his step brothers. Joseph was favoured by Jacob and his step brothers were jealous of that.

So they planned to get rid of him, which they did by deceiving Jacob. However, Jacob knew his sons and he suspected that what they did with Joseph. So what we learn from Jacob is that he did not disown his step sons, in fact he waited for positive outcome by having hope in God, without being malicious to his step sons.

In Conclusion;

In times of crisis like these you still need to be amicable to your family and hope for the best in future by believing in God. For Jacob, a positive result occured when Joseph was found in the end.

[12:80]  When they despaired of changing his mind, they conferred together. Their eldest said, "Do you realize that your father has taken a solemn pledge from you before GOD? In the past you lost Joseph. I am not leaving this place until my father gives me permission, or until GOD judges for me; He is the best Judge.

 [12:81]  "Go back to your father and tell him... `Our father, your son has committed a theft. We know for sure, because this is what we have witnessed. This was an unexpected occurrence.

[12:82]  `You may ask the community where we were, and the caravan that came back with us. We are telling the truth.' "

[12:83]  He said, "Indeed, you have conspired to carry out a certain scheme. Quiet patience is my only recourse. May GOD bring them all back to me. He is the Omniscient, Most Wise."

[12:84]  He turned away from them, saying, "I am grieving over Joseph." His eyes turned white from grieving so much; he was truly sad.
